EFFICIENCY

One of Peugeot's commitments as a car manufacturer is to environmental conservation. Our engineers and designers have risen to the challenge, coming up with a whole range of efficient solutions aimed at reducing our car’s environmental impact.

PURETECH PETROL ENGINES

Winner of the 2015 & 2016 'International Engine of the Year' award in the 1.0-litre to 1.4-litre category, Peugeot’s PureTech 3-cylinder petrol engine technology delivers a drive and performance normally associated with bigger engines but with significantly improved fuel consumption. It’s the result of intelligent, innovative engineering, which combines reduced weight materials with the efficiency of direct fuel injection to give you maximum pleasure behind the wheel, at any speed, for less.

BLUEHDi DIESEL ENGINES

BlueHDi is the name given to Peugeot’s latest generation of diesel engines. The result of a world-famous diesel heritage plus innovation and engineering excellence developed on the race tracks of Le Mans, BlueHDi complies with Euro 6* emission standards, to deliver exceptional fuel economy and CO2 emissions alongside a driving experience rich in power and performance.

A three stage cleansing process specifically targets the pollutants of diesel combustion, removing hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide, reducing nitrogen oxides by up to 90% and eliminating 99.9* of particulates. BlueHDi delivers the cleanest diesel engine possible and exceptional fuel economy of up to 91mpg with CO2 as low as 82 g/km.

HYbrid4 TECHNOLOGY

Peugeots HYbrid4 models combine a diesel engine with an electric motor – offering the perfect combination of control and fuel economy.

There’s a driving mode for every trip, and when you want to switch between the four driving modes, that’s no problem. Our centre console selection dial makes choosing between ZEV (100% electric, Zero Emissions) for reduced fuel consumption in the city, AUTO, SPORT (which combines the use of the engine and electric motor) and 4WD (4-wheel drive) modes so simple – even while you’re driving.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES

Cars are our livelihood, but the environment impacts all our lives. That’s why, at Peugeot, we’ve developed a range of eco-friendly electric cars and electric vans. These innovative electric vehicles feature technologies that make it easy to get around modern towns and cities, whilst allowing you to be kinder to the environment.

Our latest full electric car, the Peugeot iOn, provides practicality, style and comfort in a compact package. This small electric car uses cutting-edge lithium ion battery technology to deliver optimum performance. You don’t have to worry about CO2 emissions either – there are none. From a full nine-hour charge you’ll get 93 miles of driving time, making the iOn electric car perfect for urban life.

The Partner Electric van is the latest addition to our electric vehicles range. It features an economical electric motor, with batteries that can reach a charge of 80% in just 35 minutes. Combined with its generous storage space, the Partner Electric’s ultra-efficiency makes it the electric van for the fast-paced business world.

EAT6 - EFFICIENT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

/image/97/5/peugeot_eat6_efficient_automatic_transmission.190975.jpg

Peugeot's new generation of automatic gearboxes have been developed in collaboration with Aisin AW. EAT6 uses Quickshift technology for faster gear changes and smooth operation, delivering superb driving pleasure and exceptional fuel and CO2 efficiency

STOP & START TECHNOLOGY

Why waste fuel if you’re waiting at a red light or in traffic? Peugeot’s Stop & Start system senses when you come to a halt and stops the engine. Then it starts it again as soon as you want to move off. It means you use less fuel and produce up to 15% less CO2 while driving in the city.

CONSUMPTION

/image/97/6/tests_consumption_at_use_peugeot_960x3321.190976.jpg

To provide its clients with moe accurate information, PSA Group has access to an independent and certified measure of real-world fuel consumption. This initiative is in collaboration with NGO Transport & Environment and la fédération France Nature Environnement. Together, they have set up a protocol to measure the real world fuel consumption, validated by Bureau Veritas.

This protocol consists of measuring consumption in real traffic conditions, over 92.3km on different types of road: city, extra urban and motorways. Measured vehicles run on open roads with all the usual traffic conditions that arise in day to day life. During testing the vehicles carry typical luggage and passengers, whilst for greater accuracy our testers ensure that comfort features such as air conditioning are left on, just as they would be in the real world.

In addition to the traditional laboratory testing methods, PSA Group is leading the way on providing consumers with real-world fuel consumption data.

The published values, which must always be distinguished from EU type approved fuel consumption, depend on these assumptions and conditions. They therefore have no general value. The measurement protocol is available on PSA Group website, www.groupe-psa.com.

DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER (FAP)

Many diesel versions of our current models are fitted with a high-performance particulate filter. This uses Peugeot’s own technology to trap soot particles emerging from the engine. It then burns them in a “regeneration” process controlled by the engine management system. The FAP, as the filter is known, removes 99.9% of exhaust particles, making Peugeot diesel cars a sound choice for the environmentally conscious.
