With the 208, Peugeot's teams took the bold step of fully rethinking the interior of the vehicle. With its all-new ergonomics, the 208 has improved handling, is fully intuitive and more secure.
The lighting environment drew the particular focus of designers due to its highly technological dominant white feel, the back-lighting on the instrument panel, and the blue diodes outlining the panoramic glass roof at nighti, with its "comet" effect.
The interior of the vehicle has a clean and modern design, in perfect harmony with the exterior. The dashboard design with its floating and graphic style, the air vents at each end of the dashboard in the shape of cat's eyes and the "facetted" elements are all evidence of the attention paid to every single detail.
The driving position in the 208 has been fully modernised and completely redesigned. More natural and straightforward, the new ergonomics provide improved driving pleasure, with better handling and accuracy. The steering wheel is reduced in size for better control of the vehicle and more intense driving pleasure. The raised display guarantees a "head up" view of the dials and intuitive access to controls.
The 208 continues to innovate with touch screen multimedia GPSi. Placed within arm’s reach, the 7" colour screen provides intuitive access to various functionalities: GPS navigation, hands free Bluetooth kit, USB port and audio and video streaming player.
Comfort is a key asset of the new Peugeot 208. The softness of the materials, the wraparound seats, the ambient lighting, and the automatic air conditioning ensure an immediate feeling of well-being for the driver and passengers. The panoramic glass roofi gives a feeling of spaciousness at the very heart of the interior.
The 208 has an appreciable degree of compactness. Thanks to its optimised architecture, it is 7 cm longer than the previous model. Inside, a long wheel base, more compact seat backs and overall optimisation of the design have ensured that the rear seats have more space (5 cm more leg room) and a large boot space. The boot space can also be increased by folding down the rear seats, in a single action.
The interior ambiance of the 208 has been developed with a great deal of care and precision, in terms of the acoustics and level of vibration. By tracking noises at source, our research has allowed us to improve the level of silence within the car, whilst reducing the vehicle mass.
The instrument panel on the Peugeot 208 is highly technological, with analogue dials, as a reference to precision mechanics, a digital screen, and back-lighting adding overall purity and elegance.
